The challenge

The Kotzschmar Organ is one of the world’s great symphonic pipe organs — 7,101 pipes, dedicated in 1912, housed in Portland’s historic Merrill Auditorium, and one of only two municipally owned organs still operating in the United States. Friends of the Kotzschmar Organ (FOKO) is the 501(c)(3) that keeps it alive, producing annual concert series featuring world-class guest organists and growing the organ’s audience year over year.

FOKO needed a brand identity and website that captured the grandeur and accessibility of the Kotzschmar experience — attracting new audiences while serving longtime supporters, and communicating the depth of the organisation’s programming and community mission.

Our approach

Autumn Lane AI delivered a full branding and WordPress development engagement for FOKO. The visual identity system balances the historic prestige of the instrument with the warmth and community spirit that defines FOKO’s programming. The site architecture supports concert listings, ticketing links, educational content, and donor engagement.

Particular care was taken with the event presentation — making it easy for both longtime patrons and first-time visitors to discover upcoming performances and understand what makes the Kotzschmar Organ experience unlike anything else in Maine.

The Result

FOKO now has a brand and digital presence worthy of one of the world’s great musical instruments.

The site supports ticket sales, member acquisition, and the organisation’s ongoing mission to make the Kotzschmar Organ accessible and beloved by all — not just the classical music faithful.
